Brand that became a Legend

Established in Bremen, Germany in 1919 by automotive pioneer Carl F.W. Borgward, BORGWARD grew to become Germany’s third largest automotive manufacturer and largest automotive exporter. BORGWARD then spread worldwide to Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Asia due to its innovative technologies and designs. Committed with constant innovative technologies, BORGWARD offered the most diverse product, which included epoch-making sedans, race cars, buses, fire trucks and even helicopters.Borgward’s technologies evolve through each era. In 1949, Borgward launched the Hansa 1500, Europe’s first pontoon-style body design which marked the economic revival of Germany. Borgward Isabella, which became a dream car worldwide, arrived in 1954 and outperformed its competitors by more than 50% with its powerful engine. In 1959, Borgward innovated with the P100, a luxury family sedan with the first ever self-leveling pneumatic suspension. In addition to its successful product, Borgward was a champion on the racetrack. Between 1950 and 1958, Borgward was in its glorious era because some of its car had achieved a great achivement, including the famous 24 Heures Du Mans, Nurburgring 1000km, La Carrera Panamericana and L’Autodrome de Montlhéry, breaking a total of 51 world records.

BORGWARD’s headquarters is in Stuttgart, Germany, yet the brand has truly spread its glorious presence by opening its branches in China, Russia, India, Brazil, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region and in Europe. The company hires more than 2,300 full-time engineers and technical personnel from 12 countries and recruited from 16 auto brands who are working tirelessly to bring an accessible premium to markets worldwide. The company is constantly evolving, coming up with innovative designs and superior technology.

A global press conference was held at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2015 to unveil its completely redeveloped brand identity. In September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show,not only did BORGWARD debut its first intelligent wide-body SUV’s, it’s booth design was featured in EVENT PLANNER Magazine.

Multitudes of press inquiries prior to the Geneva Motor Show meant had to choose another venue to contain all our guests and three models on display. As such, BORGWARD rented a private airplane hangar to display its gorgeous BX7 and reveal two additional models – the BX5 and PROJECT BX6 TS at this exclusive, invitation-only press event and cocktail reception. The sporty BX5, a compact CUV, embodies classic SUV qualities such as versatility, spaciousness, comfort and off-road capability. PROJECT BX6 TS, the 4.51-metre-long SUV Coupé show car, is guaranteed to turn heads. As a PROJECT vehicle—the title to be given to all future show cars from BORGWARD—it highlights the capabilities of the BORGWARD SUV range in terms of agile handling and dynamic performance. Not only committed to petrol performance, BORGWARD will take the lead in adding new energy models to the product line-up, including hybrid and electric vehicles.

It is a tremendous honor for me to lead Borgward, one of the most revered and brilliant German and global brands. As it is known, not only did Borgward carve out a remarkable chapter in history, but also became a legend in the German automotive industry with numerous classics. I am confident that Borgward will once again return to its glory around the globe.

It is true that we have a long way ahead of us.
